At 2,544 meters, Moldoveanu Peak is the highest point in Romania and one of the most iconic destinations in the Carpathian Mountains. Located in the heart of the Făgăraș Mountains, the summit offers breathtaking 360° views and is a must for experienced hikers.

- Starting point: Brâncoveanu Monastery, Sâmbăta de Sus
- Trail: red triangle → Valea Sâmbetei Chalet → red stripe to the ridge
- Duration: 7–9 hours one way (difficult)
- Highlights: Fereastra Mare a Sâmbetei
- From Valea Rea (Argeș County)
- Access by forest road to Stâna lui Burnei (4×4 recommended)
- Duration: 4–5 hours to the peak
- Shorter, but steep and challenging
- From Podragu Cabin
- A demanding ridge route with spectacular scenery
- Usually done in multiple days
